Reason for Purchase: To darken the roof lantern so the room can be used as a cinema room and guest bedroom
The Challenge
Mr Lee wanted to use his orangery as a cinema room and had blackout curtains down the sides of the room but needed a blackout blind to totally shut out the light from the roof when he wanted to watch movies. He also had a sofa bed in the orangery so the blackout roof blind also allowed the room to double as a guest bedroom.
Mr Lee had a pre-existing shelf on which he would initially put LED lighting. He then realised this shelf would be the ideal support for a roof lantern blind. His shelf was 90mm all the way round and he wanted to fit the blind on top of it. But because his shelf was low down in the lantern he was able to assemble the blind on the floor and then tilt the blind over his shelf and rest it on his shelf with no difficulty at all. The Solution
The Honeycomb Openview Electric blind was an ideal choice for this situation as it is a slim design that would fit on his shelf with no problem. It also has no visible guidewires so there would be an "OpenView" when the blind was fully open.
Mr Lee opted for the blackout light grey Honeycomb OpenView Roof Lantern Blind that was mains powered (as he had a power supply in his roof)
The key benefits of the blackout fabric are that it is blackout, but also thermal (foil-lined) so the room will be cool in the summer and warm in the winter.
