What Size Roof Lantern Blind Should I Buy?
An increasing number of homeowners in the UK are investing in ground-floor extensions for their homes. Instead of moving, we’re choosing to create the spaces we’ve always dreamt of with more control over the chosen style too. Along with this, we’re seeing more households choosing to have roof lantern’s fitted too, along with requests for roof lantern blinds on the rise. One of the key questions we get here at Skylight Blinds is, what size roof lantern blind should I buy? And, due to the fit-yourself ethos we work to, this is actually a very easy question to answer.
Do I need a roof lantern blind?
Here in the UK, roof lanterns cost approximately £2,500 to install. They are both a style choice and one used to make the most out of your new space. Some extensions, especially those that are overlooked by other properties, have the potential to be dark. The best way to light into these rooms is to use windows on the new roof. This optimises on sunlight shining down on a property, gives you more freedom to work with sunlight and also provides a unique viewpoint of the surrounding area. If you’ve spent so much money and time considering whether or not to have a roof lantern, do you need to cover it with a blind? Because of their design, the most practical way to cover these windows is using a flat blind that spreads across the outside of the recess. When closed, you will likely be unable to see the glass and framed structure fully. Yes - you may have fallen in love with the look of your roof lantern but there are so many practical reasons why the relevant blinds have their place in your home. They:- Allow you to best manage the high levels of light you can expect
- Make managing excessive temperatures and loss of heat easier
- Provide a barrier that prevents dye fading in soft furnishings, such as sofas and carpets
- Make reducing glare on digital screens considerably easier
