VELUX Window Sizes - A quick guide on how to identify your Skylight Window
Before ordering a skylight blind, it is essential that you know three things:
1) The brand of your window e.g. VELUX®.
2) The window code.
3) The size of your window.
To ensure you get the right specs the first time around, we've put together a short guide to help you identify your skylight window.
Identify the Brand of Your Window eg VELUX®
There are a huge variety of skylight window suppliers, the most popular of which include Aurora, Fakro®, Dakstra®, Keylite® and of course VELUX®. As such, you’ll need to know the specific brand of your skylight window in order to purchase a blind that fits the shape and style of your window correctly. You can do this by searching for the window brand logo, which will usually be situated on the inner edge of your skylight. Once you have identified the brand of your window, you can go about finding the window code. Popular VELUX window sizes include GGL M04, GGL MK06, GGL S06, GGU MK04. The prefix ie GGL or GGU refers to the type of frame you have eg centre pivot or top opening. The GGU refers to white-framed VELUX windows (which are all the rage at the moment!). It is the last bit ie S06 that is the important bit when we are talking about VELUX sizes. It is that bit that you need and if you find it you don't even need to measure your blind. That part of the code tells us exactly what size of blind you require - it really is that easy!
Find the Window Code
Finding your skylight window code for ordering your blind is relatively easy in most cases and involves locating what is known as the product plate. As with the brand logo, the product plate can normally be found on the inside edge of your skylight window when open and will usually contain a mixture of numbers and letters that make up the unique window code. The image below provides a visual demonstration of what sort of information you should find on your window’s product plate; be sure to take down this information.
Measure Your Window
If you have difficulty finding your product plate or appear not to have one, we would advise that you contact us here at Skylight Blinds Direct so that we can assist you in ascertaining the correct window code. Alternatively, you can use one of our branded online guides to help you identify your skylight window; this will require that you measure your window accurately in order to establish the correct specifications. Measure along each side of the visible glass. Then, select the appropriate window guide on our website and match your glass size to one of the options listed.
